Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure begins with Mandie meeting her mother for the first time- an emotional adventure to begin with, but this adventure is soon replaced! When Mandie’s Uncle John decides that he needs to try once again to take a dangerous journey to stay true to a promise, and tells Mandie and her Mother that they are not allowed to join him, they disagree!
Like Mother like daughter, Mandie and her Mother decide they need to go with Uncle John. Mandie, her friends, and her Mother secretly come up with a plan that will allow them to follow Uncle John without him knowing it. They want to make sure he is safe, of course! As they all journey out on the train, Mandie and her friends discover that they aren’t the only ones on a journey to the same promise. Once they realize that there are other people in the way, this meant trouble, and this also meant that they had to take matters into their own hands.

Have you ever been angry at God? Christian theologians and consolers debate about what anger toward God says about our faith and about whether such emotions are appropriate or not in times of grief. The one thing I know from experience in my walk with Jesus is that there is no benefit in hiding our true feelings from our Father in heaven.
I had the privilege recently of watching an advance copy of the forthcoming Christian DVD Mandie and the Secret Tunnel. You will be able to buy this film from FamilyChristianMovies.com starting on Sept 22, 2009. This is the first film based on the best-selling book series by Lois Gladys Leppard. The film follows the story of a young girl in rural North Carolina in the early 1900’s who loses her father in a hunting accident. As she deals with her loss and struggles with rejection from her mother, she finds herself in the care of a godly woman who speaks God’s truth into her pain.
The older woman says something to the effect of “God knows you’re mad at him. Tell him how you feel. Pray to him in your anger. Who knows, one day you might even be asking him to take the anger away.” This wisdom from an older woman of God leads Mandie to face her feelings. By the end of the movie we see her dealing with her anger and asking God to take the anger away. I believe this is how we should always turn to God at times when our emotions don’t match our theology.
Mandie and the Secret Tunnel will most likely appeal to fans of historical dramas like Christie, Love Comes Softly and Little House on the Prairie along with people who’ve read the books by Lois Gladys Leppard. I would suggest as well that Mandie and the Secret Tunnel would minister deeply to young people, especially young girls who are living through a personal tragedy. I think that in watching Mandie find God in her pain, such youngsters may find themselves dealing honestly with their emotions in the presence of our Father in heaven, who is never surprised by our feelings, and who knows the pain we experience.
